Georgia on Our Mind: Atlanta to host Broughton Symposium

In celebration of the centennial of James Broughton’s birth, and the release of the documentary film, “BIG JOY: The Adventures of James Broughton”, Georgia State University is welcoming submission of abstracts for presentation and participation in panels and workshops at “UNCLASSIFIABLE WONDER,” a free two day symposium exploring his life and work in October 2013.

 This symposium is shaping up to include a number of exciting events, which are listed below, and its organizers look forward to receiving abstracts reflecting a wide range of interdisciplinary scholarly and creative work.

Related Themes: Film (documentary, experimental); Poetry (Beat Scene & SF Renaissance); Creativity; Avant-Garde Performance; Healthy Sexuality & the human body; Spirituality/Magic/Ritual/Fantasy; Community; Relationships (Intergenerational,  Interracial, Friendship); Joy/the Eternal Child; Taboo; Counter Culture.

Sessions will be organized around themes reflecting the accepted abstracts.
