We want to help you get your holiday joy on. We hear over and over from people who have seen our film just how inspirational, motivating, and pivotal BIG JOY has been to them.
It’s helped artists pick up their long delayed projects.
It’s inspired new dance works. And performance art.
It’s been made into dance music.
From KQED’s recent televised version (a shortened version of our film) we got this email from an audience member,
“I watched the film ‘Big Joy’ on Channel 9 here in San Francisco Sunday evening and I was blown right out of the water! Thrilled! I want to buy the DVD of the film, as well as the 3DVD set of B.’s short films. I also want to read “Coming Unbuttoned!”
We’re glad about all of this because inspiration was our intention in creating our film in the first place. For years, during the making of the film we had a giant piece of paper taped to the wall of BIG JOY Headquarters (a place that we call The Forge) that said,
“The Big Joy Project creates more joy in the world by inspiring people to ‘follow your own weird,’ using the life, joy, and work of James Broughton– filmmaker, poet, writer, wild man– as inspiration.”
We also had it on the bottom of our newsletters for years (which btw we still send out from time to time, sign up here to get a few emails a year of inspiring BIG JOY news).
We are glad to see that BIG JOY is still doing its work. For the holidays, we’d like to help it bring you joy too. So we’re giving you a break. $5 off the DVD through December 26th. That’s our BIG JOY DVD for $17.00.
We’re also offering a discount on the streaming link in our film. For only $6.99 you can buy the streaming version of BIG JOY which you can access in perpetuity. Use the HOLIDAYJOY code.
We’re offering some other sweet deals on some of our joyful souvenirs as well.
Big Joy glass bottles for $45.00. Artist Jeff Crandall’s work is renowned. It’s in galleries all over the country. His sandblasted poetry bottles sell for $70- $300. This is a chance to get one of his pieces and a bit of James Broughton poetry all at once. It’s original. It’s unique. And there aren’t that many left. Once they are gone, they are gone.
Our BIG JOY Soundtrack is on sale for $7.99. It also includes 10 audio poems, read by Broughton himself. So maybe you can use it to mix your own music–like Friends With Benefits Records did with their Music of His Dance Volume 1 and Volume 2.
Wishing you a joyful December (and beyond),
From all of us at the BIG JOY Project
